      Cynthia Xu

Cynthia is a university trained Dietitian and Exercise Physiologist, and has been in the fitness industry for over eight years. Prior to discovering pole dancing, Cynthia had no background in dance; her main form of exercise was distance running. She decided to try pole dancing in 2011 after seeing a flyer for a local studio in Cairns, QLD. In 2012 she returned to Sydney and began classes at Suzie Q Pole Studio, and since then has attended classes at many different studios with the goal of learning from a variety of instructors.

Cynthia entered her first pole dancing competition in February 2014, Vertical Limits at The Ranch Hotel, and won the Amateur division with her Lara Croft inspired routine. In an effort to ‘keep up with the boys’ she prefers the strength and power moves, and loves the unique challenges offered by working on a static pole.

          Dancer

With a background in ballet, Louise attended dance classes from an early age, completing her Royal Academy of Dance exams and performing in annual shows with the Dinan School of Ballet in Co. Clare, Ireland until she was 16.

          Louise performance pic

Louise attributes her addiction to Pole Dancing to her love of music, dance and the feeling you get from nailing a move that once seemed impossible to conquer. Louise says, “I knew from the beginning that Pole Dancing was not just something I would try for a few months and get bored with. When you take part in a class at Studio Verve® you completely lose yourself in what you are doing and you always leave the studio feeling stronger, happier and inspired by the possibilities! The sky is the limit to what you can learn and I want others to experience and share this feeling.”

Louise has always had an interest in circus arts and took up fire dancing 6 years ago after her first glimpse of fire dancers in the South of Spain. Since then she has performed as a fire dancer at various events and festivals in Ireland, the United States and most recently at R Music Festival. Through the years she has also learned to hula hoop with fire, taken aerial and flying trapeze classes and learned to dance with feather fans. It is no secret that she has always dreamed of running away with the circus!!!

When she is not at Studio Verve®, Louise (aka Lulu Le Bombe) performs in the Sydney region with her burlesque partner in crime Eszter Varadi (aka Eden L’Amour). Louise and Eszter began dancing together a year ago when they discovered they shared a love of burlesque, choreography and costume making and decided to form their own unique performance group called the Killer Bombshells. Since then the Killer Bombshells have performed at the Burlesque Expo in St Georges Basin in May 2013 and with Rhythm Boat Cruises in Sydney.

            Dancer

From a young age Phoebe has enjoyed all kinds of forms of movement – from dancing, to acrobatics, to soccer. During her high school years, Phoebe tried many types of dance: jazz, tap, Irish, belly-dancing… she loved them all for different reasons. Each form of dance had its own variations and strengths that gave them all unique places in her life, and she is yet to find a more amazing form of self-expression than the one she can achieve through dance.

            Phoebe performance pic

Phoebe was also a part of the ‘Spaghetti Circus’ – a local circus school in the hills of the Byron Bay Shire. It was here that she developed her love of acrobatic and tumbling skills, and began developing her flexibility. Her favourite skills were tumbling and static trapeze. Phoebe is often referred to as ‘the super base’ for her ability to be a strong and reassuring ‘base’ for her partner when learning any doubles or tumbling tricks in class.

Phoebe is also a qualified PoleFit instructor at Studio Verve Dance Fitness. Phoebe’s passion for pole dancing is ever growing, having also qualified as a finalist in the NSW Australian Pole Championships; she is looking forward to where her own pole journey will take her as a Pole Evolution™ dancer.

Jane began her PoleFit® journey back in February of 2011, when she found herself tired of the same old gym training routine day after day. Seeking out different fitness alternatives, Jane came across Studio Verve® and has never looked back!

              Jane performance pic

Before then, Jane was actually studying interior design and initially didn’t have any career aspirations in the field of fitness. But slowly, while working as a casual receptionist in a fitness centre, she found herself being absorbed into the world of cardio and resistance, and decided to defer her design course to take on Fitness full time.

Now working as a qualified Group Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer, Jane has been immersed in the sport and fitness industry for the last 4 years. Having completed a two year traineeship to obtain her Certificate III and Certificate IV in Fitness, Jane is thoroughly enjoying her role as a Studio Verve® instructor. Not only has it enormously increased her own strength and technique; she now has the opportunity to inspire her own students with her love of Pole Dancing as a sport.
